Genealogy Services
The Genealogy collection is located on the second floor of the library. Patron assistance is provided by the Reference staff during regular library hours.
Simple requests for information, such as obituaries, directory assistance, and specific searches in local records, should be addressed to the Reference staff. Requests for in-depth research should be referred to the Reno County Genealogical Society at the following address:
Reno County Genealogical Society
PO Box 5
Hutchinson, KS 67504-0005

Please include as much information as possible in each request, such as surnames, first names, middle names (if possible), and dates of birth or death. If you are looking for a newspaper article, please search the Reno County newspaper index or provide the name and date of the newspaper being requested.

The Reference staff accepts requests by mail, telephone, fax, or e-mail. We will generally respond to a request within 72 hours upon receipt. Please include your postal mailing address and telephone number with each request.

There is a subscription database within the library that may be used for genealogy research: Ancestry Library Edition. Heritage Quest is available within the library, or it may be accessed from other locations using a current Kansas Library Card.
